Dust Inn 2000 - Air Cleaner & Dust Collector

For gentle, yet thorough cleaning, power up to the DELSONIC 2000™ piezo scaler from DELDENT.

This automatically-tuned piezo ceramic ultrasonic scaler generates linear tip movement at 29KHz for extremely efficient calculus removal.

Best of all, the DELSONIC 2000™ was also designed to prevent cross infection, so the unit comes with a set of three detachable handpiece sleeves that simply snap off for autoclaving, also extending the life of the handpiece. Use with the Stream Selector 2000 or the independent fluid dispenser system of your choice, which turns the DELSONIC 2000™ into a totally portable scaler, requiring power alone.

Features

  • Sleek, compact, quiet, powerful, and portable.
  • Linear tip vibration, for more efficient and more comfortable scaling.
  • High frequency 30 kHz design provides greater patient comfort than the competition (less vibration against teeth).
  • Cool running, high torque handpiece (minimal tip warmth).
  • Fully autoclavable handpiece sleeves, so purchasing additional handpieces is not necessary.
  • Range of tips available for all clinical needs.
  • Tips are designed to introduce spray even into deep pockets.
  • May be used with any independent fluid supply system dispensing purified water or medicaments.
  • 2 year warranty (compare with competitive brands’ one year warranty on handpiece).

Advantages of linear tip vibration, compared with elliptical vibration (Cavitron-Type):

  • Smoother root surface
  • More efficient tartar removal
  • Easier amalgam overhang removal

Piezo -Ceramic Scaling Technology

Ultrasonic scalers

Ultrasonic scalers consist of an electrical power generator, also connected to a water source (mains or reservoir) and the hand piece and its cable.

Ultrasonic scalers vibrate at frequencies of 25-30,000 cycles per second. This high-frequency ultrasonic tip vibration, combined with the water stream, creates cavitation bubbles in the fluid. These bubbles collapse and release energy on contact with a surface. Studies have suggested that the energy created by the collapsing bubbles can destroy spirochetal cell membranes, which are amongst the motile pathogens frequently implicated in periodontal disease.

Magnetostrictive or Piezo-Ceramic ultrasonic scaler.
Magnetostrictive devices utilize a resonating stack of metal strips placed in a hand piece that generates an electromagnetic field by way of a coil. The stack is connected connected to the back of the tip. The alternating current in the hand piece coil results in vibration of the ferro-magnetic molecules in the stack which generates the vibrating frequency.

Piezo devices, in contrast, use the oscillations of quartz crystals located in the hand piece. The piezo-ceramic on time principle is the one according to which every quartz watch ticks in time. A quartz crystal is electrically charged by an alternating current and because positive and negative alternate during charging, the quartz crystal expands or contracts proportionally giving rise to the vibrating frequency.

Tip oscillation:
Essentially both Piezo-Ceramic and Magnetostrictive scaler units generate similar tip motion ranging from linear to tight elliptical but the pattern of tip oscillation appears to be influenced far more by the geometry of the tip itself than by the design of scaler that powers it. It is claimed that Piezo-Ceramic scalers produce a more linear oscillation and makes the piezo design less likely to abrade or damage the tooth.

There is also an additional significant difference between Piezo-Ceramic and Magnetostrictive scalers.

Heat: The metal stack in the magnetostrictive scaler generates heat. In order to prevent overheating, you must scale with plenty of water irrigation.

The quartz crystals in the piezo scaler generate virtually no heat. This means you can run the device with very little water irrigation and thereby have better visibility of the treatment area.
